It’s been a minute!
We’ve finally got our website updated & we’re ready to do some blogging!
So let me get right to it – a lot of you ask us if we “fast” or how we feel about “fasting”.
Well here it is…
We aren’t super big on the whole “fasting” thing – but more so intuitive eating. We eat when we’re hungry, but if our bodies feel like they need a break from digesting, then we give them a break! As humans – our bodies work very hard to digest what we’re consuming, & that can take up a lot of our energy.
We find on nights where we may have a little too much popcorn, treats, or even just a later/heavier dinner, we will wake up feeling not as hungry – so we won’t eat breakfast! If we wake up feeling like we haven’t digested – then why put more food in our body? Once we break the 12 hour window of not eating it sort of turns into a “fast” – so sometimes we ‘unintentionally’ fast for 12-16 hours until our bodies feel digested & hungry again.
However – there is one exception… We love early morning fasted cardio – specifically, a Spin class! There’s a lot of research done on how beneficial that can be for the body & we always feel our best afterwards. We do this once or twice per week.
For all you female “fasters” out there that are doing longer fasts (18-24 hours etc) – we would highly recommend reading up on it! We’ve read several articles that say extensive Fasting for women can be harmful to our reproductive hormones. Not saying it’s bad by any means, but may not be for everybody!
